GYPSY JAZZ GUITAR LESSONS IN KENT - IN PERSON OR ONLINE
I teach Gypsy Jazz guitar in the style of Django Reinhardt either one-to-one or online.
Covering all aspects of this amazing acoustic guitar genre made famous initially in the 30's, 40's and early 50's by Django Reinhardt and later by modern day exponents such as Bireli Lagrene, Stocholo Rosenberg and Amati Schmitt.
Whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced, I can help you advance your playing to the next level.
I offer one-to-one sessions either hourly or 4.5 hour day sessions at my home in Kent, England and also online anywhere in the U.K and worldwide.
I have over twenty five years professional performance and teaching experience in Gypsy Jazz guitar alone, with many ex-students going on to become full-time pro players.
If you're looking for rhythm tips and advice, I have some great methods to help you achieve a better understanding of how rhythm works in Gypsy Jazz and how it will also benefit improvising over chord sequences in a Gypsy Jazz style.
With improvisation and melodies, I have lots of cool tips and devices that will help you push your picking technique to new levels.
All my tuition/coaching sessions are geared towards your own individual requirements. I'm always keen to find out about your playing level and what your goals are before any session gets booked in.

Django In The Bay Gypsy Jazz Festival - review
It's been over 12 years since I went to a Gypsy Jazz Festival as a spectator/jammer rather than being a booked artist. The pressure was off, it was time to chill, hang out and catch up with many old friends.
Located at The Hide, Manton Bay in Rutland this excellent festival is in it's third year and is growing in popularity. It's definitely become THE Gypsy Jazz event to attend in the U.K.
There were excellent continental groups booked for the main concerts and the days (and nights) were filled with constant music/jamming from musicians from all over the world.
Although there are other great Gypsy Jazz Festivals/events around the country, DITB is without a doubt the closest to the Samois/Django Reinhardt Festival experience and if you're a musician, that's what you want!
The website is Django In The Bay but also check out their socials (FaceBook, Instagram etc) for a more detailed review of this awesome 3 day event.
Many thanks to my friends Natalia Douglas & Matt Kerry for a fab weekend and all their hard work. Everyone was stoked by this Gypsy Jazz gem.
Here's a few pics.
I had a nice surprise session with Friday night headliners Roby Lakatos (violin), Debi Botos, Adrian Marco and Mathieu Chatelain (guitars) after the concerts. A giddy 5.am finisher that night/morning! Here's teeny clip from the jam.
Thanks for dragging me over for that one Nat. Sleep?? sleep is for non-gypsy jazzers.
