Jonny Hepbir Trio at Covent Garden, London.

The JONNY HEPBIR TRIO featuring Violin, Guitar and Double Bass performing at a Birthday Celebration Event in Covent Garden, London recently.

We had a good time getting the musical sparks flying for this booking. Here's a clip of the band launching into 'Joseph Joseph' a Gypsy Jazz staple tune best played up tempo.

There was a good buzz at the Broadstairs Jazz Festival this year with lots of great music and performances. I played with four different line-ups and ended on the final day with this corker of a gig with the 'DJANGONG' Trio!

Djangong? Yes simply because Ian East (tenor sax) is a member of cult hippy band Gong. Although times have changed and they're a bit more prog rock these days with some excellent players in the band. We played swing jazz and the audience loved it. Hopefully we'll do some more over the next year.

Last but not least with the short video clips is this one of me and violinist Kit Massey. Here we are on a horseless cart banging out the Hot Club Style at Tithe Barn, Kent for a day of Jazz and classic cars. Before us was the Jay Raynor Quintet but they couldn't fit on the cart.

GYPSY JAZZ GUITAR WORKSHOP IN MARGATE, KENT

NEW for 2026! I'll be holding a Gypsy Jazz Guitar Workshop at Rosslyn Court 62 Sweyn Road in Margate on Sunday 22nd March 2 - 6pm.

Details yet to be finalised but basically it'll be a 4 hour event starting with a 30 minute introduction/player assessment followed by 2 x 1 hour (with 30 minute break between) coaching workshop sessions on all different aspects of Gypsy Jazz Guitar (details to follow).

Ending with a 1 hour jam session to put everything covered into practice.

Price will be £30 per person and workshop details will be announced soon.

The last one I held here was just before the pandemic and sold out very quickly.

This is a great venue to hold a playing/learning event like this and it's taken the lovely Morag (owner) a couple of years to get me to finally hold another.
