JONNY HEPBIR GYPSY JAZZ GUITARIST can be heard at four different venues in Kent this month.
First is a Trio performance on Wednesday 19th November 8pm at Rosslyn Court Jazz Night. 62 Sweyn Road in Margate.
I will be joined by these great musicians, Mike Austin on tenor sax and Andy Wall on double bass. Tickets are £10 and booking is advisable.
On Sunday 23rd November 3pm I can be found back at the award-winning The Magnet, 37 Albion Street in Broadstairs. Always a pleasure to play here, this time a chilled solo session to while away an Autumn afternoon.
The Jonny Hepbir Trio are back to perform whilst you dine on Thursday 27th November 7pm.
The Jonny Hepbir Trio are a Swing Jazz band performing a vibrant mix of Gypsy Jazz, Swing Jazz and funky Latin grooves.
Jonny Hepbir is one of the long-standing players on the British Gypsy Jazz scene. Over the last 14 years Jonny has played with his band, the Jonny Hepbir Trio & Quartet throughout the U.K. and abroad, including private performances for Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Terence Conran, Paul Merton and Kool & The Gang amongst others.
World-class saxophonist, Michael Coates, will be joining Jonny. During his career, Michael has collected BBC’s Jazz Soloist of the Year award and has recorded as a featured soloist with the BBC Radio Big Band. He has toured and recorded with international composer and arranger Michel Legrand and vocal legend Alison Moyet.
Joining Jonny and Michael on double bass is Jerome Davies. Jerome is in constant demand as a bassist and Instrument-maker. Jerome has toured the world including appearances at the Adelaide Festival, The Blue Note club in New York, Ronnie Scott’s in London and tours of Europe and Japan.
The Jonny Hepbir Trio will be performing 3 sets from 7pm onwards.

Finally on Saturday 29th November 8pm, I'll be playing in a Jazz Trio at fabulous Fez Margate, 40 High Street. This will be Vocals, Guitar and Bass for an evening of vintage style jazz from the 30's and 40's. Free entry!
GYPSY JAZZ GUITAR WORKSHOP with Jonny Hepbir.

Two one hour tutoring sessions (with break) and a one hour jam session.
Tickets are £30.

The venue is the popular Rosslyn Court in Margate, Kent.
This workshop will focus on the two main principles of Django-style, rhythm accompaniment and melody/solo playing.
No theory or reading is necessary as the 'folk' tradition of this style is very much aural.
The emphasis will be on playing and having fun through learning.
There will be lots of cool tips and tricks to take away and apply to your playing even if you've had no experience of this style before.
Workshop Requirements – An acoustic guitar & plectrum.
